OPEN-AIR

DRAUSSENSTADT is a new platform that brings together information, events and services focussing on open-air experiences, city culture and urban practice in Berlin.

DRAUSSENSTADT is a new platform funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Europe and designed to showcase open-air urban culture in Berlin. The project was created out of the “Urbane Praxis” (Urban practice) initiative launched by the Berlin cultural body known as the Rat für die Künste (Council for the Arts). DRAUSSENSTADT represents the coming together of a wide array of urban players ranging from artists, urban researchers and activists to clubs, think tanks and local neighbourhood initiatives. Among those involved are the Floating University, the Haus der Statistik (House of Statistics), the Baupalast am Dragoner Areal (the “building palace” at the Dragoner Areal), the Berlinische Gallery and the Kulturforum. “DRAUSSENSTADT allows us to transform the challenges associated with the current Covid-19 pandemic into innovative opportunities to experience art and culture in open-air urban spaces.”
